What comes with our services
Tractor Equipment
All units are equipped with the following:
- 2-way radios
- Strobe lights
- Backup alarms
- Custom switched backup lights so that we can turn our rearward lights off when towing so as not to blind the truck driver.
- 6-way dozers
- Custom built winch racks with 65,000 lb/2 speed hydraulic winches, a live roll and headache rack, with back-up camera.
- Custom built rims with heavy-duty skidder tires that are fluid filled to provide extra weight for traction.
- Heavy-duty ¾” tire chains for added traction on even the iciest conditions
- The advantage of our tractors is the 16-speed transmission that allows us to have a highly varied towing speed to match with the trucks that we are towing.
Health, Safety and Environment
Avalanche Energy prides itself on its worker safety and is constantly monitoring and adjusting our safety program to be one of the best in the industry. Avalanche Energy has a COR designation, and we have committed to having one hundred percent of our employees certified in St. Johns First Aid, H2S, WHMIS, and TDG. Avalanche can add any further training that is a site-specific requirement.
Avalanche operators are required to do daily hazard assessments, even if they are already signing onto a client’s hazard assessment, as the tow tractors are often only one machine that is part of a busy job site that can require them to be helping in various operations. This helps the operator to be aware of what is going on and what to watch for.
Avalanche is also very committed to staying current with the new emission control legislation. In doing so we have recently rigged up 2 Case IH Steiger 450’s, that are full Tier 4 machines. As far as we know these are the first 2 tow tractors that are Tier 4 machines in western Canada.
Costing and Hazard Assessment Tracking
All tickets and safety are done electronically, allowing us to email in daily or weekly costs to the client. Hazard assessments can also be forwarded to the client as requested. Each tow is also documented on a pre-tow checklist form that records the truck driver’s name and signature, as well as trucking company name and unit.
